I've been reading a lot about IPv6 lately, so I decided I'd try to get it working on our local network and possibly over the internet over the past couple of nights.

My biggest concern was that IPv6 doesn't allow masking of local addresses like IPv4 does with NAT. Thankfully the Airport Extreme that I'm using now supports an IPv6 Firewall - as long as I keep it updated. All of our local machines also have their built-in firewalls enabled as well, so I'm not quite as concerned about intrusions at this time.

Enabling IPv6 on our Macs was a piece of cake! I haven't yet tried my other Windows and Linux boxes, but with the Macs it was simply a matter of enabling IPv6 on the Airport Extreme, setting up the 6to4 tunnel (our current ISP doesn't support native IPv6 yet), and making sure that all of the Macs had IPv6 set to automatically configure. Voila! Done!

Windows 7 wasn't too difficult either -- once I got through all of the pending updates.
